This past friday I had 2 shoots. The first was with a little one who I had photographed when she was tiny. I also photographed her mommy when she was pregnant. Ava has most certainly perfected the sit scoot. I got such a charge watching her get around the studio on her bottom! Happy 1st Birthday! Thank you Megan for bringing Ava to the studio! We had a great time together...I can not believe how she has grown! Here are some images from our session...
My second shoot was with a very special little girl named Kaia and her mom Kristina. I am associated with an organization called The American Child Photographers Charity Guild. The ACPCG is a non-profit, volunteer based organization of child photographers who have come together to form a guild dedicated to children in need and their families. I was blessed to spend time with Kaia and Kristina today for a special session...
This is their story...
During Kristina's 3rd trimester, she sufferered a ruptured splenic aneurysm. This is an extremely rare condition but can be associated with the 3rd trimester of a pregnancy. Kaia had sustained a brain injury due to severe oxygen deprivation. She suffered Stage 3 Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy. This is the most severe form of oxygen deprivation. Because of this injury Kaia's needs are great. She is currently in physical therapy as well as occupational therapy. She is fed entirely by a GJ feeding tube and has many special needs.
I am just amazed at the beauty of this little girl and the incredible bond between this child and her mom. It was truly a blessing to spend time with them and photograph little Kaia.
